Year ot fhe Cat, take two
Apr. 30th, 2007 06:07 pmLast evening, I went to Passim to see Al Stewart, who I have been a fan of for many years. It was a great show. I saw him once before in 2005, as reported here. He had a cold but still sounded great and did a full show, although he mentioned he did one song in a different key to go easy on his voice. Once again, he was backed up by the excellent lead guitarist Dave Nachmanoff.
One of the reasons I went is that he said at the last concert that he does not do fixed set lists so each concert is different, and this was the case. The show was quite different than the last one. With 40 years of material, he has a ton of songs. He did "Merlin's Time" this time which I always liked.
It was sold out, and the place was packed. Although it was a lot of 40 and up people (like me) which you would expect for an artist of that era and age, there were some younger people too. Not a lot, but it was still nice to see.
One minor complaint with the venue: I think Passim's should stop serving when the main act is playing. It was a little distracting to have the waitresses in and out and walking in front of people while there is a concert going on.
