Day off - different, better work - misc

tn3270After putting in a bunch of hours on both getting a coding milestone done, and a busy, tiring trip, I decided to take a day off and have a quiet day staying mostly at home working on some personal projects that needed some attention. Has been a nice day so far. Working on personal software projects is fun; coding would be a lot nicer if not tied to jobs :).
When I was younger, I had a more or less workaholic attitude that said time spent doing technical stuff should be for the job related work. Stupidly, there were stretches where I worked a lot of extra hours when it probably was not even needed. Happily, I have overcome that, although finding the time for personal projects can still be a challenge. Focusing on one project as I wrote about earlier this year has also helped.
I had a very nice day yesterday, and that combined with hanging out today and doing my own stuff has made for a great feeling.
The only down thing I have to say now is that I need to vote in the Mass primary tomorrow, and I really think all the primaries should be held on the same day. By the time we get to vote here in Mass, most of the democratic candidates have been eliminated. IMHO, the primary system is simply broken if only people who live in "early states" get a full selection of candidates. Although I will do my civic duty and vote, it is de-motivating.
