Busy Monday
Dec. 1st, 2003 07:21 pmHave been working at home a lot lately, but ventured into the office in the city today (Cambridge) for the first time in almost two weeks. Working at home is great and I avoid the crowded and slow MBTA, but it was really nice to get out. Managed to take a nice walk; it was a little cold but still very pleasant. I went to one of my favorite nerd bookstores (Quantum). Work is a really odd mix of technologies for me these days. My main project is written in IBM 370 assembly language (I am a mainframe geek, hence the user name), but I also do a decent amount of Perl for QA test automation and tools. It has been an interesting mix. The coding went well today and had my best coding day in recent memory. The Thanksgiving break and a really nice weekend helped.
One of my coworker's teenage kids was in the office today. It seems some late 60s and early 70s music is getting popular with the younger kids; she likes the Doors, Jimi Hendrix and the Kinks. All stuff that was recorded before she was born. It was a pleasant surprise.
