Another Good book finished
Jul. 2nd, 2005 07:10 pmFinished reading "Computing in the Middle Ages, a view from the trenches 1955-1983", by Severo Ornstein. I love books on the history of technology and this is one of the better ones. He worked on the ARPANet at BBN, and also at Xerox PARC, as a Hardware and Software person. In later years he was a founder of the The Computer Professionals For Social Responsibility. A great book, I love the stories of debugging stuff and looking for timing bugs, which I have done a fair amount of on database software, so it I really related to it. It is also of local interest since a fair amount of his career was in the Boston area.
