Cold Thursday
Jan. 8th, 2004 04:08 pmFunny how design and creativity works in fits and starts. I Am trying to do a functional design of new software feature for work. Sort of hit a mental block on where to go with it.
Decided to just quietly think on it today, without other distractions. I put off a couple of other distractions that I was going to attend to today. This morning I kind of just thought on it some more, but was still at more or less of a mental block. About mid-afternoon, suddenly the block cleared, and some ideas started to form. It still needs more work, but at least I do not feel stuck.
Some of this I attribute to quiet; I am working at home today. Our office is small but can be noisy, I do not think I would have been able to think stuff through in the office.
Working at home, like anything, has pluses and minuses. I have both done it, and dealt with telecommuting employees when I was a manager. A downside can be isolation and communication, but you sure cant beat the quiet. I live alone, so its very quiet working at home.
