In my house, I have an old-style wiring based router for my home network. However, my work laptop is set up for wireless. If I boot it up here, it often detects from 1-3 unsecured wireless networks. I figure they are from wireless routers in my building or nearby businesses. The signal strength varies, but usually I get free wireless access at home.

Today I grabbed a salad at the local "Fresh City" soup and salad type place. I never thought them to be a very high tech place, but they have put up a sign that they have free wireless as an amenity for their customers.

Recently, I have discovered that the "Mystery Channel" (part of my cable package here in Newton), is showing Rod Serling's "Night Gallery". This show ran in the early 70s, and I found it very scary as a kid. It is anthology style and the segments vary in quality from excellent to truly terrible. I had totally forgotten about this show, and have enjoyed watching it again. The good episodes have held up very well and are still quite creepy. Rod Serling's Twilight Zone is better remembered but Night Gallery had its moments.

Speaking of the Twilight Zone, of all the TV episodes I have watched, I think the Twilight zone episode with the monster on the wing of the plane is most memorable. Every time I get a wing seat on an airplane I think of it. I forget the title of the episode but it stared a young pre Star Trek William Shatner.
